My new Forrester linum fancies, beautiful and lots of character. Got to love the newly designed Scotch Thistle fancy turned shafts, as Mr. Forrester had called them. The newest one in the photo below is the one in the middle. It has a Pau Ferro button and an African Mahogany shaft.

Forrester spindles are speaking out to me again! Yesterday came this amazing package from my folks and inside were three pretty Forrester spindles, two linum fancies and one top whorl. Got to be happy because Forrester spindles are my favorite and they’re charming excellent spinning tools. They came from TNNA event where my folks had been. I wasn’t sure what they were talking about when they said “We got you some things that you like.” Hmmm, what was it more Egyptian cotton floss so that I can overdye them in variegated colors? Perhaps a set of rosewood and ebony knitting needles? Don’t know but when I opened the package I was beaming with joy. Felt like a little girl falling in love for the first time! Again!

Look what came in the mail! The ever superlicious kona superwash merino yarn from Henry’s Attic. Believe me, I’ve done all kinds of things with the yarn including weaving with it. Lovely, soft and best yet it’s superwash! This yarn beats all other superwash. It is soft, squishy and has a lovely sheen to it. It is more expensive than regular 100% merino but for its super amazing qualities it is well worth the price.

I haven’t decided what colorways to go with this time. I have some natural dyes and some Landscape Dyes from Woodland Woolworks which IMHO give the most vibrant colors for acid dyes, and that the new hues just came in. How exciting it will be in the dye studio for all of us. Well, whatever the outcome I will have to say that Henry’s Attic is the best love a knitter can get and for the dyer as well. It feels like Christmas all year round.

These have been brewing in the pot the last few days. In between the cold, sinus and headache, today culminates a productive effort at skeining. Finally! It could have been later than anticipated but it had to be done. This would have been it. The coming week will be spent finishing the usual load work waiting in huge gigantic piles. Lovely colors, don’t you think? My favorite batch so far. I love how the lilacs and pinks turn out amidst all the other variegated strands.

My yarn blocker is overworked and feeling tired and heavy, where else could we squeeze all the extra yarns except for on the other super gigantic warping mill. Of course when it is all said and done, there was cleaning up time. Dear husband was impressed with my creativity and productivity early this morning. What a fulfilling weekend. I hope all you fiber artists out there are having the same. Keep on dye-ing and skein-ing.

Memorial Day is a short vacation. Nothing done around here except for a day at the pool and some relaxing spinning. Apart from that, work is swamping like crazy. All kinds of forms and paperwork to fill up. The wheels in the studio are getting their feet wet entertaining some pink Rambouillet roving from last year’s indulgence. The dyepot is brewing but that is about it in the kitchen and the loom has become the kitty spot while we were away. He has been playing with the idea that it may be his permanent spot, yes only when there’s no warp that is. Meanwhile, I’ve updated the sidebar offering lovely handpainted merino sock yarn. Spin on.

Binge-ing, our Russian Blue hiding in the loom
